There can be many causes of headaches, and my job as a Chiropractor is to help determine the source of a headache, and particularly if it’s pain that’s coming from the neck and upper spine. Chiropractic care for headaches can be an effective way to relieve pain and improve spinal function through targeted adjustments.
Cervicogenic headaches originate from the neck. Although they can be caused by stress, poor posture, old injuries, traumas and impacts, accidents and injuries, they can also develop because of chronically poor spinal movement.
The good news is that studies continue to show that chiropractic spinal adjustments are highly effective in providing relief.
Researchers analyzed 20 randomized controlled trials (1,400+ patients) to evaluate how effective these two interventions were at improving headache intensity and frequency:
- Manual therapy (adjustments, mobilization, soft tissue work)
- Exercise therapy (especially cervico-scapular and cranio-cervical work)
The results speak for themselves! Across all categories for improvement spinal adjustments specifically showed greater improvement, and the researchers concluded:
“Studies show this type of care can reduce both how often and how intense the headaches are.”
If you or someone you care about are consistently suffering with headaches, perhaps it’s time to try a new clinically validated approach, and start finding relief and living pain free.
